Engineering Project Manager 

Are you an experienced Project Manager with a mechanical engineering background looking to take the next step in your career? A growing engineering business at the cutting edge of water treatment and industrial plant design is seeking a Project Manager to lead high-value projects from conception to completion.

This Project Manager role will see you working on exciting, technically challenging projects across sectors including offshore wind, oil and gas, power generation, and large-scale water treatment. You will work closely with senior managers and cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to a high standard of quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the Project Manager for multiple mechanical engineering projects, ensuring successful delivery of business benefits.

  • Break down project tasks, schedule resources, and maintain project cash flow and budget control.

  • Apply tools such as MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to develop and track project programmes.

  • Manage stakeholder relationships at all levels internally and externally, anticipating and resolving issues proactively.

  • Organise and mentor project teams, allocating tasks according to technical specialism and monitoring performance.

  • Oversee project execution, monitor schedules and budgets, and identify variations or risks that could impact delivery.

  • Provide feedback for internal continuous improvement programmes to support future projects.

Candidate Profile
  • 5–7 years’ experience in mechanical project engineering, ideally within manufacturing, oil and gas, or water treatment.

  • Experience in project management within power generation or large water treatment projects preferred.

  • Minimum BTEC National Diploma in Engineering; AIMechEng preferred.

  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Project, Excel, and AutoCAD.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Commercially astute, self-motivated, and able to remain focused on priorities amidst frequent interruptions.

  • Understanding of quality and process control principles (SPC) advantageous.
