About the role
A Project Mechanical Quantity Surveyor (QS) is responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of mechanical engineering works on a construction project. This role ensures cost-effective planning, budgeting, procurement, and financial control of all mechanical elements, such as HVAC, piping, fire protection systems, and plumbing, while ensuring compliance with project requirements, regulations, and timelines.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates based on design documents, specifications, and site conditions.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and tender documentation for mechanical works.
  • Evaluate and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids and recommend contract awards.
  • Administer contracts in accordance with JCT D&B or other standard forms.
  • Manage variations, claims, and dispute resolution related to mechanical works.
  • Track costs against budget and prepare regular financial reports.
  • Conduct value engineering and cost-saving analysis during project execution.
  • Perform on-site measurements and re-measurements for mechanical components.
  • Validate and certify subcontractor and supplier invoices.

Collaboration & Coordination:
  • Coordinate with design, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment on mechanical scope.
  • Attend site meetings and liaise with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders.
