Mainstay Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a high-growth facilities management business to recruit an accomplished Financial Controller.

We are seeking a technically strong and experienced finance professional to lead the financial control function within a dynamic and expanding operation valued at over 800 million. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this is a high-impact leadership role responsible for statutory reporting, treasury management, IFRS compliance, and the ongoing integrity of financial governance.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) team and manage the relationship with an offshore finance service provider handling transactional finance, payments, and cashflow processes.
  • Deliver accurate and timely statutory accounts and oversee external audits.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements across Companies House, HMRC, and other bodies.
  • Manage tax affairs including Corporation Tax, VAT, and CIS, while driving continuous improvements in financial processes.
  • Oversee treasury operations including cashflow forecasting, banking relationships, supplier payments, and credit facilities.
  • Maintain a compliant and auditable fixed asset register, applying consistent governance to capital investment and depreciation.
  • Act as custodian of the balance sheet, ensuring accuracy and proactive resolution of anomalies.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance Business Partners to promote a strong culture of control and best practice across the finance function.
  • Produce technical accounting papers and support the business with expert guidance on complex developments and strategic bids.
  • Ensure audit-ready documentation is available for monthly and year-end closings.


Candidate Profile:

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Strong technical expertise in IFRS and statutory reporting.
  • Proven ability to influence and challenge across varied business functions.
  • Experience managing audits, tax compliance, and supporting decision-making with sound financial insights.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ideally SAP or equivalent ERP system knowledge.
  • Understanding of P2P processes with a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Track record of successfully managing remote teams and third-party providers.
