Job Title: SEN Learning Support Assistant (Permanent)

TeacherActive are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming school in Billericay on a permanent basis. If you have a genuine desire to support pupils with special educational needs and help them reach their potential, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll do:

• Provide high-quality, personal and academic support to pupils with SEN (e.g., autism, communication needs, complex learning needs, sensory/physical difficulties).
• Assist with classroom activities, small group work, and 1:1 support to enable pupils to access the curriculum.
• Implement and adapt lesson plans and resources under the guidance of teaching staff.
• Model positive behaviour support strategies and contribute to a calm, inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor progress, record observations, and contribute to pupil records and IEPs (as required).
• Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, promoting student well-being.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of children; follow safeguarding procedures and school policies.
• Collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, and other professionals to plan and deliver effective support.

What we’re looking for:

• A genuine interest in supporting children with SEND and a patient, resilient approach.
• Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly in an educational or SEN setting (not essential but desirable).
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills ( GCSE / KS4 level or equivalent; A levels or higher preferred for some roles).
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and staff.
• Adaptability, initiative, and a proactive team mindset.
• Willingness to complete safeguarding checks (DBS) and comply with school policies.
