We're delighted to be partnering with a well-established, highly regarded business based in North Birmingham to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant. This is a key role at the heart of the finance function, offering an exciting opportunity to take ownership of critical reporting processes and deliver high-quality financial insight across the business.

In this hands-on position, you'll be a pivotal figure in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across the finance function. Reporting to a Finance Manager and collaborating closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders - including auditors, tax teams, and operational leaders - you will play a vital part in strengthening financial governance and delivering robust reporting that supports better decision-making.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and posting of month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, recharges, and complex provisions (e.g. restructuring and contingent liabilities).

  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and prompt resolution of any variances or risks.

  • Oversee monthly P&L reporting and contribute to the production of high-quality financial statements in line with UK-IFRS.

  • Take responsibility for intercompany reconciliations and submissions to Group Finance.

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities through clear analysis and insightful reporting.

  • Conduct monthly reviews with budget holders to explain variances and support sound financial decision-making.

  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and help to implement appropriate compliance measures and policy updates.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline financial processes, enhance controls, and improve reporting efficiency.

  • Collaborate across departments including HR, operations, and offshore finance to ensure end-to-end accuracy and transparency in reporting.

  • Support internal and external audits, managing requests, preparing documentation, and ensuring audit readiness at all times.

  • Supervise and mentor one finance team member, supporting their professional development and daily outputs.



Candidate Experience, Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) with strong technical knowledge.

  • Proven experience in financial reporting, month-end close, and financial control roles.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and UK-IFRS.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and present findings clearly.

  • Confident communicator, comfortable working across all levels and functions of a business.

  • Proactive and process-driven with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Previous experience managing or mentoring junior team members is advantageous.
