Chartered Structural Engineer

Birmingham

55k-60k + car/allowance & benefits

A new way to use your engineering expertise!

Are you a Chartered Structural Engineer who enjoys being out on site more than sitting behind a desk? Do you want to use your technical knowledge in a fresh, practical way - with minimal design work and a real focus on investigation and problem-solving? If so, this could be the perfect next step.

This position is field-based rather than remote or office-based. You will be required to visit multiple sites, and a car/allowance is included to cover travel.

Our client is a well-established consultancy specialising in structural inspections, defect investigations and small-scale calculations for both residential and commercial schemes. They are looking for a Chartered Structural Engineer to join them as a Structural Defect Surveyor.

You'll work closely with the Structural Engineering Partner and their team of surveyors, attending sites to assess structural issues and carry out beam and mezzanine calculations where needed. You'll dictate your findings while on site and reports are typed up by the admin team, so there's no need for hours spent writing at a desk.

This is a role for someone who likes to be out and about, who enjoys the variety of visiting different sites, meeting people, and using their engineering judgment to solve real-world problems. Plenty of travel will be required, but in return you'll have the independence and flexibility to manage your own time and work fully remotely.

Generous salary with a company car or 5,000 car allowance after probation. You will also receive private health insurance for you and your family, 26 days' holiday, and the support of a business that genuinely values work-life balance.

If you're ready to take your structural engineering career in a different direction - one that's practical, varied, and rewarding - we'd love to hear from you.
