We are seeking a Principal EC&I Engineer to lead high-impact projects, shape technical solutions and guide a team of engineers delivering complex systems into regulated environments.

Lead EC&I Engineer

£45000 - £60000 + Hybrid Working. Flexi-Time, Early Finish Friday

EC&I Engineer - The Role:

    • Translate high-level design inputs into practical, safe, and cost-effective engineering solutions.

    • Lead and manage a team of EC&I engineers and designers to deliver projects on time and within budget.

    • Oversee the creation and verification of key design deliverables:

Schematics, GA drawings, cable schedules, FDS, software documentation, test plans etc.

  • Interface coordination with other engineering disciplines and external stakeholders.

  • Contribute to and/or lead HAZOPs, design reviews, and safety assessments.

  • Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation, relevant design standards, and internal quality systems.

  • Identify and specify third-party equipment, liaising with procurement and supply chain.

  • Work closely with manufacturing, test, and commissioning teams to ensure delivery excellence.

EC&I Engineer - The Person:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards (IET preferred).

  • Extensive experience in electrical/control engineering in highly regulated industries – nuclear experience is beneficial.

  • Demonstrable leadership in managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

  • Strong understanding of industry standards – knowledge of IEC 61508 is a plus.

  • Methodical and detail-driven, with a passion for producing safe and fit-for-purpose designs.
