Electrical Design Manager/Product Development Manager - Food Equipment

Global Market Leader in High Speed Food Automation (Processing and Packaging) Machinery

- Design, Development, Innovation, R&D, Modifications and Upgrades

**Candidates must have relevant experience either from Machinery Design Management, Equipment Product Development (with design knowledge) or similar
- Candidates without experience will not be considered.**

Role:

Electrical Design Manager/Product Development Manager - responsible for providing leadership and management to the Electrical Engineering Sub-Team while ensuring optimum level of service and satisfaction to customers through their innovative approach in developing packaging and processing machinery and systems, utilising electrical engineering principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the activities of the Electrical Engineering Sub-Team
  • Coordinate the work schedules of team members including resource planning and delegating tasks
  • Encourage personal development ensuring results are achieved, including higher quality of output for customers
  • Ensure team members are actively contributing to the global team throughout the life cycle of products, ensuring optimum levels of service and support are achieved
  • Provide support and guidance to the greater team in the absence of the Group R&D Manager
  • Work closely with all departments, ensuring you are a key team member in transitioning new designs through documentation, prototyping, timely production, and testing
  • Manage design projects ensuring all milestones are met, as per the schedule
  • Prepare and coordinate accurate resource, time and cost summaries for projects on a weekly, monthly and ad-hoc basis as required
  • Develop electrical designs for primary products and new projects in collaboration with other departments
  • Develop designs of electrics and if required, electronics of a machine or system

Description

  • Assist in the development of PLC and PC programs for systems or machines that require them
  • Liaise with customers and Technical Support to find solutions to electrical problems of machines and/or systems and report the findings to the team
  • Develop test procedures for machinery designed
  • Document to the required level for UKCA and CE compliance, the electrics of a machine developed
  • Update personal technical and industry knowledge, as necessary
  • Travel to customer sites to support and develop equipment and solutions
  • Commission first of series machines that you are directly responsible for designing
  • Conform to international standards for machinery and turnkey systems
  • Provide effective coaching and line management, which includes conducting regular one-to-one reviews and annual appraisals
  • Strictly follow customer specifications and regulations to design the required control systems and machines.
  • Develop and specify Standard equipment which is suitable to reduce design lead times

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Supervision and management of approximately 6-7 electrical engineers both UK based and abroad.
  • Ensuring the budget is met as a minimum or below
  • Management of design costs, time schedules and design outcome
