Associate Director - Highways & Transport | 60,000 - 80,000 + Bonus & Package | Birmingham
I'm working exclusively with a transport consultancy seeking an Associate Director to establish and lead a new Civil Engineering design team in their Birmingham office.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior professional to step into a pivotal leadership role with genuine autonomy to shape the team, grow the client base, and drive project delivery across a wide range of infrastructure and development projects.

The Opportunity:
This role offers the chance to lead from the front - managing projects, building client relationships, growing a team, and contributing to the wider business strategy. You'll be supported by an established leadership team while having the space to put your own stamp on the operation in the Midlands.
Your role will include:

  • Setting up and leading a new team of engineers & technicians in Birmingham
  • Managing and delivering a diverse range of S278, S38, drainage, and highways infrastructure projects
  • Overseeing technical outputs to ensure compliance with DMRB, MCHW, and local guidance
  • Developing and managing client relationships, supporting business development and work-winning activities
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring, and developing junior staff
  • Ensuring projects are delivered to programme, quality, and budget targets
  • Representing the company at client and stakeholder meetings

About You:
We're looking for a proactive, commercially aware leader with:

  • Significant experience delivering highways & transport projects within consultancy
  • Proven track record in managing multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Strong technical expertise in highways design (DMRB, MCHW, Civils 3D, PDS Flow)
  • Confidence in client-facing roles, business development, and winning work
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior staff
  • Ideally Chartered status (or equivalent)

The Package:

  • 60,000 - 80,000 salary (depending on experience)
  • Bonus scheme, private medical & dental insurance, life cover, enhanced pension, extra leave, company events and more

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to step up, lead their own team, and make a tangible impact - with the support of a successful, people-focused consultancy.
