HR Business Partner

Our client is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join on an interim basis until the end of March 2026. This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham (three days onsite per week), offering the opportunity to play a key part in shaping people strategy and delivering high-quality HR support across the organisation.

In this role, you will work closely with senior stakeholders and line managers, providing expert advice on HR policies, employee relations, and people management practices. You will partner with leadership teams to align HR initiatives with evolving business needs, contribute to organisation design and change projects, and support the delivery of core HR processes. With a focus on delivering an excellent employee experience, this role also offers the chance to influence strategic HR priorities while maintaining flexibility to respond to changing organisational demands.

As a HR Business Partner you will need to have/be:

  • CIPD Level 5 or above
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly, draft accurate correspondence, and confidently deliver challenging messages to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven stakeholder management expertise, including advising and guiding line managers on all aspects of HR.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to remain effective under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing solutions.
  • Skilled at building collaborative working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver a high-quality HR service.
  • Proficient in IT, with solid working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong numeracy skills, with experience analysing complex data sets and producing accurate reports.
  • Customer-focused approach, with the ability to manage and resolve complex queries in a professional and supportive manner.
  • Experience interpreting and applying HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with employment legislation and best practice.
  • Proven track record in managing complex employee relations cases to successful resolution.
  • Experience delivering HR projects, including organisational change initiatives and HR development programmes.
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Proficient in using Oracle or similar HR systems to support HR processes and reporting.

Role of HR Business Partner:

  • Partner with Heads of HR to deliver directorate priorities, aligning people strategies with evolving business needs.
  • Support the design and implementation of local initiatives (e.g. absence management, attrition, performance management) to drive organisational improvement.
  • Coordinate key HR activities, including objective setting, performance management, year-end reviews, talent reviews, and engagement survey follow-up actions.
  • Contribute to Organisation Design projects by providing administrative support during planning, coordinating consultation processes, and ensuring compliance throughout implementation.
  • Prepare and consolidate monthly reporting from multiple sources (HRMI, Resourcing, ER) to provide clear insights.
  • Analyse HR data, highlight trends, and provide actionable insights to support informed decision-making and people interventions.
  • Advise line managers on reward processes, including Temporary Responsibility Allowances and Managed Moves, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Support the Employee & Industrial Relations team in delivering ER priorities and business-focused initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of HR policies, training, and processes to continuously improve people practices.
