Our client manufactures electro coating lacquers, which are a high-quality water based primer applied to a metal surface, providing the painted surface with excellent corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties and high chemical resistance. It can be colour treated to produce a decorative finishing used in applications such as jewellery, door fittings, furniture, lamps, and fashion accessories.

An opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated chemist to undertake Quality Control (QC) testing and development of new formulations at their site in Nuneaton. This position would be suited to someone looking to progress into a more management role from a chemist position

Responsibilities;

  • Quality Control testing and analysis of production samples and key raw materials.
  • Quality Control and analysis of customer samples
  • Development of new products
  • Support to manufacturing e.g., Non-conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Assistance with customer complaints investigations.
  • Assistance with calibration of equipment.
  • Colour matching
  • Ensuring all tasks are undertaken safely and in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping and tidying of the laboratory.
  • Assistance with raw material evaluations, product improvement and development.

Candidate profile

  • Preferably degree qualified in Chemistry or related subject, or having worked in a similar role in a similar industry.
  • Well organised and methodical but with a creative and flexible approach.
  • Must be computer literate with excellent verbal and written skills and be comfortable working on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • A full driving licence is a mandatory requirement as some external site visits and testing will be required.

Working hours; Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm, though after a sufficient training period, the company can offer a more flexible working arrangement.
