Civils Operative

Location: Midlands region

Salary: 25-30k depending candidate experience

Project Partners are now recruiting for Civil Operatives who are available and seeking a new permanent, full-time position based in the Midlands areas.

Job Overview: The Civils Operative is responsible for carrying out civil engineering works, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the required standards and within designated timeframes. The role involves the excavation and installation of ducts, including reinstatement to HAUC (Highways Authorities and Utilities Committee) standards. The Civils Operative will be expected to complete work to the specified quality and manage any defects effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all assigned work is completed within the expected timeframes, with minimal disruptions.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with the required standards and specifications. This includes: Excavating and burying ducts to the required depths for footway and carriageway.
  • Ensuring reinstatement of works to HAUC specifications.
  • Daily work requires the submission of accurate photo sets in line with company requirements using the provided systems and forms.
  • Minimise the occurrence of defects in completed work. In cases where excessive defects are generated, these will be investigated by an area supervisor, and corrective actions will be required.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for self and others.
  • Properly use, maintain, and store all tools and equipment required for civil works.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections at the beginning of each shift.
  • Work effectively with team members and supervisors to deliver project goals, supporting a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • You will maintain a personal development plan, highlighting areas where you seek further growth in your role.
  • You will complete a Safe on Arrival form each day, wearing appropriate PPE, and fostering a positive safety culture. Site setups should comply with NRSWA standards.
  • You will log in and out of shifts using TimeClock, assisting with location tracking and safety monitoring.
  • You will adhere to health and safety standards as a priority; this includes. Report all incidents, accidents, or near misses to your manager, ensuring injuries are communicated.
  • Holding up-to-date accreditations is essential for your role, and you are responsible for informing your manager when a renewal is needed so that the necessary training can be arranged.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in civil engineering, utility installation, or a similar role.
  • Knowledge of HAUC standards and specifications.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and site plans.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an eye for detail.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual labour.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driving license.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and at different sites as required.
