Job Description
We are currently seeking experienced Heavy Mechanical Fitters to support a short-term contract involving maintenance work on Class 172 rolling stock. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled mechanical professionals with a background in rail or heavy industry to contribute to an essential rolling stock project near Birmingham.
Key Responsibilities
Replacement of brake calliper bolts on Class 172 rolling stock
Safely operating and positioning jacking systems
Removing and refitting brake callipers and associated components
Adhering to all depot safety procedures and industry regulations
Maintaining a clean and organised work environment
Reporting any faults or safety concerns to the team lead or supervisor
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience in heavy mechanical fitting, ideally within the rolling stock or rail sector
Strong understanding of depot operations and safe working practices
Ability to interpret technical instructions and carry out repairs efficiently
NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical discipline preferred, but not essential
Flexibility to work 45-50 hours per week as required
Commitment to high-quality workmanship and attention to detail
