Alecto Recruitment are currently partnering with an industry leading Renewables Energy Investment company in the UK, who specialise in the development and management of solar PV assets as one of the largest solar investors in Europe.

Due to ongoing success and a rapidly growing renewable energy development, we are now looking to appoint a Head of Health and Safety in a newly created position, with the intention to provide support to the company across all business units with a focus on Project Delivery and Asset Management.

About the role

As Head of Health and Safety the primary base is flexible but will suit someone Midlands based and working from home, involving travelling to various client sites across the country with regular attendance in the office.

The key purpose of the role is to deliver a health and safety improvement service including site and document inspection, providing guidance and training to the business in relation to health and safety management, hazardous materials, waste management, occupational safety and health and construction safety regulations and supporting the implementation of the Health and Safety management systems.

As travel is required you should have access to a car with a valid driving license and be insured for business use.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Onboarding contractors through the PQQ programme
  • Repeat vetting of contractors at routine intervals
  • Complete H&S audits and reviews accurately identifying site requirements through surveying premises to ensure needs and expectations are met in accordance with their contracted services, preparing reports as appropriate.
  • Provide post-visit follow up documentation and ensure that agreed actions are recorded and implemented.
  • Advise the business on standards and best practice.
  • Provision of training as appropriate.
  • Proactively seek and record feedback from clients to maintain working relationships, check satisfaction levels and use feedback in ongoing marketing activities.
  • Ensure contingency for changes in legislation and agreed/requested amendments are made to documentation.
  • Ensure requirements are met by managing the day to day running of the CRM system.
  • Produce regular business reports.
  • Ensure system improvements to work towards an ISO accreditation in the business.
  • Review and develop training courses with the IMG team.
  • Improve company policies and processes.
  • Improve the H&S management system.
  • Support the development of the online systems.
  • Attend networking events.
  • Maintain and improve online presence by assisting with social media activities.
  • Proactively identify sales opportunities with existing and prospective clients.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven track record in a construction health and safety environment or similar background, including utilities, renewables, solar.
  • NEBOSH qualification.
  • Developing and implementing H&S Standards across a company structure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be extremely organised, multi-task and work well as part of a team
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in reporting within the business
  • Have a full driver's license and be able to travel within the UK
