Bennett and Game are currently working with a leading scaffolding contractor based in Birmingham who work on project across the West Midlands. They offer both commercial and domestic scaffolding, short-term hire and long-term project scaffolding. Their team hold all the relevant safety accreditations (CITB, CSCS, CISRS), and they pride themselves on reliability, safety, competitive pricing, and strong customer relationships.

We are working in partnership with our client to recruit a Contracts Manager who will play a pivotal role in driving growth, maintaining high standards of delivery, and expanding their client base. The successful candidate will combine strong commercial acumen with relationship building, contract negotiation and operational oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of contract administration from tender stage through to final account, ensuring contracts are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
  • Identify, develop, and win new business opportunities; nurture and maintain existing client relationships to secure repeat work.
  • Liaise closely with clients (public and private sector), project teams, site supervisors, and supply chain partners to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Negotiate contract terms and pricing; manage risk and ensure contracts are commercially sound.
  • Forecast revenue, manage cash flows, prepare cost reports, monitor profitability of contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and quality standards; ensure all staff are aware of regulatory and certification requirements.
  • Oversee contract changes, variations, dispute resolution and claims management.
  • Produce regular reports for senior management on contract status, financial performance, pipeline, risks, and opportunities.

Candidate Requirements

  • Solid experience in scaffolding, industrial access, or construction industry, with proven track record in managing contracts.
  • Strong network of contacts within the construction sector, ideally including relationships that can generate new client leads.
  • Demonstrable commercial mindset: able to price work accurately, manage costs, deliver profitability.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Good knowledge of contract types (JCT, NEC or similar) and risk management.
  • Strong leadership skills, excellent communication (written and verbal).
  • Organised, self-motivated, able to manage multiple contracts/projects concurrently.
  • Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
