Credit Controller - North BirminghamOffice-based | Full-time or reduced hours | £28,000 - £32,000 (depending on experience & hours)

We're working with a well-established business in North Birmingham that's looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join their finance team. With someone due to leave at the end of the month, they're keen to bring in someone who knows their way around AR and credit control, and can hit the ground running.

This is a standalone credit role where you'll take full ownership of the receivables process - from chasing payments to handling queries and keeping the ledger in good shape. It's a hands-on role that would suit someone methodical, dependable, and quietly confident. You'll be working closely with an Assistant Accountant and sitting in an open-plan office with the wider team, including sales and finance.

One particular area you'll be able to make an impact is on the aged debt - there's a solid foundation in place, but a bit of clean-up is needed. If you like the idea of getting stuck into a project and bringing structure and clarity to the numbers, this could be a satisfying challenge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of the sales ledger and customer accounts
  • Proactively chase overdue payments by phone and email
  • Monitor accounts, flag any risks early, and stay on top of credit limits
  • Keep the ledger clean and accurate with regular reconciliations
  • Handle any payment queries quickly and confidently, keeping disruption to a minimum
  • Produce aged debt reports and support wider cash flow forecasting
  • Take the lead on tidying up and maintaining a healthy aged debt profile
  • Work closely with the Assistant Accountant and support the wider finance team when needed

You'll be a good fit if you:

  • Have 3-5 years' experience in credit control or AR
  • Are confident speaking with customers and sorting out issues
  • Work in a tidy, organised way and like to keep on top of the detail
  • Enjoy being part of a friendly
  • Ideally have experience with Microsoft Dynamics and Excel (lookups), but not a dealbreaker

What's on offer:

  • £28,000 - £32,000 depending on experience and hours
  • Office-based role with flexible start/finish times
  • Reduced hours considered
  • Free parking nearby
  • 22 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Supportive team
