Position: Senior Electrical Engineer(Building Services)

Location: Birmingham

Our client is a leader in forensic investigations for the built environment, and an independent, British company with an international presence . They are a generous employer offering excellent terms and conditions of employment, a stake in the company’s ownership and career progression up to board director level. They operate in a consistent, highly profitable sector that is not associated with competitive tenders or low margin frameworks.

Their engineers and scientists are recruited directly from industry, and following a period of familiarisation, investigate and determine the cause of failures in the UK and internationally. They are frequently appointed by client companies, insurers, legal firms and loss adjusters to establish the root cause of failures, to resolve claims and improve safety and efficiency. Their expertise covers manufacturing, power and energy, shipping / marine, automotive, aerospace, technology, civil, building engineering and construction.

Your Role: Your main focus will be on electrical building services, however your electrical expertise will occasionally be applied to other topics where there is good alignment. Typical assignments include investigating the failures affecting power distribution, lighting systems, BMS, renewable energy systems, backup power, and safety systems. This can range from partial to complete failure. You will work alongside a team of electrical engineering experts, each of whom have specialist skills and strengths. Support is on hand when additional technical input or guidance is required. The position will enable you to become an expert witness should you wish, additional training would be provided to prepare you for this.

Your Profile: A technically focused background in electrical design engineering , ideally focused on building services, or potentially the manufacturing, automation, aerospace or automotive sectors. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to think laterally and a high level of natural curiosity. Strong academically with a 2:1 honours degree in electrical engineering, or above. Good written and verbal communication skills.
