Are you confident managing high-volume banking activity and keeping a close eye on the movement of funds? This could be a brilliant opportunity to bring your treasury experience into a busy, people-focused retail business that really values detail and diligence.

We're working with a well-established retailer based just south of Birmingham who are looking for a Treasury Supervisor to join their finance team on a 12-month maternity cover contract. The business has a large store network, multiple bank accounts, and a high volume of daily transactions - so having someone in this role who's confident overseeing payment flows, monitoring cash balances and resolving discrepancies will make a real difference.

This is a role that needs to start ASAP, so if you're immediately available or on a short notice period, that would be ideal.

The position reports into a supportive Finance Manager, and while there's scope to manage a direct report, this isn't essential - if people management isn't your thing, that's not a problem.

What you'll be doing:

  • Monitoring and managing cash across multiple bank accounts to ensure sufficient funds for payments and stock releases
  • Verifying and approving payments before stock is released or accounts are taken off stop
  • Liaising with store teams to support with cash handling queries and validate spending
  • Investigating store-level discrepancies in safe balances or incorrectly recorded transactions
  • Working with third parties (Barclays, HSBC, security services etc.) to trace and resolve banking queries
  • Performing monthly bank reconciliations and posting journals to ensure accurate records
  • Reviewing and escalating issues with unusual spend or potential fraud, working with Profit Protection where needed
  • Supporting store teams in following correct banking processes and flagging any training needs
  • Assisting with internal and external audit queries
  • Raising purchase orders for any banking-related requirements

What they're looking for:

  • Someone with strong treasury or cash management experience in a fast-paced environment
  • A confident communicator who enjoys working with stakeholders across the business
  • Comfortable handling investigations, queries and reconciliations with high attention to detail
  • Familiarity with multi-site operations or retail businesses would be a big plus
  • Experience supervising others is ideal but not essential - support is available either way
  • Someone who's proactive, responsible and able to manage their own workload

The details:

  • Full-time, hybrid role (a mix of home and office-based working)
  • Flexible start and finish times
  • 12-month maternity cover contract, starting ASAP
  • Based just south of Birmingham
  • Retail sector - high volume, multi-site setup
  • Option to manage a team member, or not, depending on preference

Summary:A great opportunity for someone with strong treasury experience to join a fast-moving retail business and take ownership of cash movement, bank reconciliations and store-level spend. Hybrid working, flexible hours, and a supportive team make this a great option for someone ready to hit the ground running.
