Your new companyHays are supporting a large international charity based in Birmingham who are looking to recruit a Finance Business Partner into their team. Your new roleThe Finance Business Partner role involves delivering strategic financial support to operational teams, enabling informed decision-making across services. The position focusses on producing accurate management accounts, leading budget processes, and advising on donor compliance, while also fostering strong relationships with both finance and non-finance stakeholders. It requires a qualified finance professional with experience in charity accounting, data analysis, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. What you'll need to succeed

  • Professional Qualification: A recognised finance qualification (e.g. CCAB, CIMA) with ongoing professional development.
  • Strong Business Partnering Skills: Ability to build effective relationships with both finance and non-finance stakeholders, offering strategic financial insights.
  • Management Accounting Expertise: Proven experience in producing accurate monthly management accounts, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Experience leading annual budget processes and managing multi-cost-centre environments.
  • Charity Sector Knowledge: Understanding of charity fund accounting, SORP, VAT, Gift Aid, and donor compliance.
  • Advanced Excel Skills: Proficiency in data manipulation using pivot tables, lookups, and other advanced Excel functions.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex financial data and present it in a clear, actionable format.
  • Communication Skills: Confident in presenting financial performance to senior management and supporting decision-making.
  • System Proficiency: Experience with finance systems like SUN and CRM platforms, ensuring accurate coding and reconciliations.
  • Leadership and Training: Capable of line managing staff and delivering training to finance and non-finance colleagues.
