Indirect Tax ManagerBoutique Practice, Birmingham OfficeUp to £65,000!!!

I am working closely with a fast growing boutique practice, who are looking for an ambitious Assistant Manager or Manager to further develop their career. You will work across a broad range of clients in all sectors and on various technical advisory and compliance-orientated projects.

What I am looking for:

All together, this team holds almost 50 years' experience in the VAT world. Due to the continued development of the firm and the consistent year-on-year growth of the VAT service line, there is a need for an ambitious individual to onboard, along with the benefit of support from the wider, award-winning team. Ideally you will have:

  • Minimum of three years' experience (Assistant Manager) or four years' experience (Manager) in an indirect tax role either in professional practice, at HMRC or in industry (or a mixture of all three)
  • CTA and / or ACA qualified (preferred although not essential).
  • Experience of dealing directly with clients
  • A good working knowledge/ experience of the key relevant areas of tax involved in Indirect Taxation, including the following areas:
    • "End-to-End" M&A transactions - working with the wider tax due diligence teams by providing support on identifying material VAT-related risks and opportunities (e.g. prepare information requests, attend calls with management/advisors, review responses/documents, identify tax risks and opportunities (quantifying where necessary) and preparing VAT sections of due diligence reports).
    • Maximising VAT recovery on professional costs incurred by businesses undertaking M&A activity including PE-backed acquisitions, trade disposals, reorganisations, refinancing and restructuring.
    • Real estate transactions for residential and commercial developers and investors (including but not limited to purpose-built student accommodation, care homes and serviced apartments).
    • Post-Brexit complex international supply chains likely to give rise to additional VAT compliance and reporting requirements.
    • Partial exemption methodology and product liability reviews for business in the FS, Real Estate and Health & Welfare sectors.
  • Strong project and time management
  • Interest in development of junior staff members
  • Only those applicants who have a legal right to work in the UK and have an appropriate amount of practical relevant UK indirect tax experience, as outlined above, will be considered for this role.

Benefits:

They regularly benchmark their salaries against the 'Big Four' to ensure they are competitive and attracting the best talent. You will also have the opportunity to join the All-Employee Share Reward Scheme which entitles every employee to a share of the firms' profits above a fixed threshold, plus a generous benefits package (including voluntary benefits).
