Builder’s Merchant Warehouse Driver/Operative | Birmingham | Full Time | £26,970-£29,205 per annum, depending upon role, shift choice & experience
Our client, an independent builders’ merchant located in Stirchley, Birmingham, is seeking to expand their warehouse team due to recent growth and ongoing plans for future development. This is a hands-on, varied role within a close-knit team that works hard and takes pride in what they do.
This role would be ideal for people who currently work in a warehouse, yard, plumbers’ merchants, retail stores, driving roles, multi-drop drivers, pickers, packers, trade counter assistants or anyone with a passion for customer service and/or the building industry.
Please note – This is a full-time role, based both on our site and out driving our vehicles.
Are you the right person for the job?
- Customer focused – we provide THE BEST customer service, and you will always be the company’s face to our customers (and often to their customers as well)
- Over 25 years of age (a requirement for our insurance)
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience in driving longer vans (our longest van bed is 6m / 20ft)
- Experience working in a busy environment
- Experience handling goods
- Knowledge of building materials (ideal but not essential, as you will learn a surprising amount just from interacting with our customers)
- A great team player
- Proven record of Counterbalance FLT driving (preferred but not essential)
What will your role look like?
- Performing Multi-drop deliveries in our fleet of vehicles
- Picking goods for customers
- Using our IT system to check goods, orders, and make changes
- Checking orders to ensure they have been picked correctly
- Checking off and putting away inbound stock
- Driving our forklift truck
- Stock counting
- Keeping our site maintained
- Other tasks as they appear, it’s very rare for any 2 days to be alike here
