Freight Forwarder

We are seeking a dedicated Freight Forwarder to join our dynamic team in Birmingham. This role is crucial for providing exceptional customer service and handling various forwarding activities within the freight forwarding sector. As a Freight Forwarder, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with various regulatory bodies and maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers. 

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Complete end-to-end forwarding activities as required by the role.
  • Adhere to strict and time-sensitive SOPs/KPIs to ensure compliance with CAA, TAPA, HMRC, GDP, and IATA regulations.
  • Engage closely with both internal and external customers to ensure a focus on customer service.
  • Utilize Next Gen/MS Office for various tasks including invoicing, job costing, and updating CIA, Netting, and milestones within required timeframes.
  • Perform month-end department compliance and customs entries.
  • Control costs and assist senior forwarders, supervisors, and line managers as needed.
  • Complete all reports, including internal and customer-specific ones, within deadlines.
  • Resolve queries from customers and suppliers promptly.
  • Maintain relationships with customers and suppliers and participate in customer reviews to enhance visibility and relationships.
  • Assist in customer and business development alongside sales and management teams.
  • Adhere to a clean desk policy and operate within the company's QA system.
  • Perform any other tasks as directed by the supervisor or line manager.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Business-related experience with a proven record in customer service and operational roles.
  • Thorough understanding of the international transportation and logistics industry, particularly in export Air Sea Road operations.
  • Good knowledge of IT systems and processes used in the transport sector.
  • Fluent in English and any other languages beneficial for the operation.

Required Behavioural Competencies:

  • Result-oriented with a focus on achieving goals and meeting targets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to understand SOPs.
  • Customer service driven with a deep understanding of financial contexts.
  • Team-oriented with a quality focus.
