Role:                                   Night Transport Supervisor

Location:                           Birmingham

Salary:                               Competitive salary & excellent benefits

Working Hours:              Sun – Thu 22:00 – 07:00 (available to work alternate Fri night/Sat morning shift)

MVP is partnering with a fast-growing business with ambitious future plans to recruit a Transport Supervisor to lead activities across its night transport operation at its delivery operation in Birmingham. 

Reporting to a Depot Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring all orders are delivered to the company’s customers at the correct time and at the correct quality.  Supervising a team, you’ll have a range of responsibilities, ensuring the successful and compliant running of the Transport operation.  

The successful candidate must be comfortable taking a hands-on role from the outset—working alongside the team to help deliver day-to-day operations while also contributing to the foundations for future expansion.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that vehicles are loaded correctly to company standards and dispatched on time.
  • Ensure that orders are delivered on time and at the required quality.
  • Ensure planned routes are checked and any necessary changes are made and clearly communicated to delivery drivers.
  • All Road Traffic Accidents are recorded and relevant paperwork completed.
  • Act as a direct contact for all delivery drivers, providing leadership and monitoring employee progress.
  • Ensure that fuel card receipts are collected and filed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all vehicles are road worthy, report any vehicle that requires VOR to the fleet supervisor.
  • Organise couriers and collections when necessary.
  • Be proactive in reducing costs and improving delivery systems.
  • Ensure drivers carry out both start of day and end of day checklist for the fleet of vehicles.
  • Ensure that drivers comply to EU Regulations and Working Time Directive

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous supervisory experience gained within a fast-moving transport / distribution environment
  • Natural leadership abilities – able to inspire, motivate and delegate
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent decision-making skills
  • Great planning and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • IT skills
  • Current Forklift licence/s
