Job Description:We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of English to lead a dynamic English department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 to 5, supporting staff development, and driving student achievement. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated leader to make a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective English lessons.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support and mentor English teachers within the department.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement curriculum strategies.
- Promote a love of literature and language across the school community.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- A degree in English or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching English at secondary level, including KS5.
- Previous leadership or middle management experience is desirable.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
