Zachary Daniels Recruitment is proud to be partnering with one of the UK's most successful and fast-paced retail groups to appoint a Head of Health & Safety. This is a senior leadership role with group-wide responsibility and direct influence at board level.

About the RoleReporting directly to the CEO and working as part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will develop and deliver a forward-thinking health & safety strategy across a complex, multi-site retail and logistics estate.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role where you will be expected to travel nationally - including regular overnight stays - to build strong relationships across all locations, ensure robust compliance frameworks, and promote a culture of safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver the Group Health & Safety strategy across all business units

  • Promote a culture of behavioural safety and continuous improvement

  • Work cross-functionally to understand challenges and drive tailored safety initiatives

  • Lead and coach a dedicated safety team to achieve strategic objectives

  • Ensure compliance with all UK & EU legislation and anticipate global changes in safety requirements

  • Build strong reporting tools and lead performance monitoring using tools like Excel and PowerBI

  • Oversee group-wide risk assessments, audits, and health & safety communication strategies

  • Provide insight and advice at board level to shape business decisions

  • Manage budgetary responsibilities within the Health & Safety function

  • Travel frequently across the UK with overnight stays as required to ensure site-level engagement and governance

About You

  • Senior-level experience in health & safety within a large, multi-site organisation

  • Retail or logistics sector experience is strongly preferred

  • Chartered or NEBOSH-qualified with expert understanding of UK & EU legislation

  • Able to influence at all levels, from boardroom to shop floor

  • Strong people leader and coach, capable of building high-performing teams

  • Data-driven, commercially aware, and customer-focused

  • Comfortable with regular UK travel and overnight stays as part of a national remit
