We're looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Winson Green area. You'll be supporting children with high needs autism, some of whom are non-verbal, helping them access learning and thrive in a structured, supportive environment.

Your Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism
  • Use visual aids, communication tools (e.g. PECS, Makaton), and sensory strategies
  • Support emotional regulation and behaviour in a calm, consistent way
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to deliver tailored support
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and their families

What We're Looking For:

  • Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a relevant qualification
  • Experience working with SEND, ideally with high needs
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach
  • Confident using or willing to learn communication strategies such as PECS or Makaton
  • Strong team player with a passion for SEND
  • Reliable, resilient, and committed to making a difference
