SEND Teaching Assistant

We're looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Winson Green area. You'll be supporting children with high needs autism, some of whom are non-verbal, helping them access learning and thrive in a structured, supportive environment.
Your Role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism
- Use visual aids, communication tools (e.g. PECS, Makaton), and sensory strategies
- Support emotional regulation and behaviour in a calm, consistent way
- Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to deliver tailored support
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and their families
What We're Looking For:
- Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a relevant qualification
- Experience working with SEND, ideally with high needs
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Confident using or willing to learn communication strategies such as PECS or Makaton
- Strong team player with a passion for SEND
- Reliable, resilient, and committed to making a difference
