Location: Handsworth
Daily Rate: 105 - 115 per day
Contract: Long Term to Permanent
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Commutable From: Handsworth, Lozells, Aston, Perry Barr, Winson Green, Hockley, Great Barr, Birmingham City Centre
Would you consider yourself a caring, patient and proactive individual?
We're looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a warm, inclusive primary school in the Handsworth area. You'll be based within their specialist resource base, supporting pupils with Autism (ASD), non-verbal or pre-verbal communication needs, developmental delay and EHCPs, helping them to learn, communicate and grow their skills each day.
If you have experience supporting children with additional needs or a genuine passion for helping them thrive, this could be the perfect next step in your career.
Your Day to Day:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ASD and significant communication needs.
  • Work with children who are non-verbal or pre-verbal, using visuals, gestures, modelling and structured routines.
  • Support pupils working at EYFS developmental levels, adapting activities to suit their learning profiles.
  • Implement EHCP targets, contributing to progress tracking and consistent support.
  • Assist children with sensory regulation, emotional needs and positive engagement.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and external specialists to ensure each child receives high-quality, personalised support.

About You:

  • Experience supporting children with ASD, speech/communication needs or developmental delay.
  • Confident using visual strategies and play-based communication.
  • Passionate about helping children develop independence, confidence and communication skills.
  • A team player with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 TA, Early Years, Childcare, SEND) are beneficial.
