ABC Teachers are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join the team at Calthorpe Academy, part of the Thrive Education Partnership, starting in December.
Calthorpe Academy is a specialist school in Birmingham that provides education for pupils aged 2–19 years with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ learning, personal development, and wellbeing. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide individualised support that helps each pupil reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities-
Support students with learning, communication, and sensory needs in the classroom.

Assist in implementing tailored education and therapy programmes.

Promote positive behaviour and encourage student engagement.

Provide personal care support where required (training provided).

Help prepare resources and adapt activities to suit individual abilities.

Support off-site visits and enrichment activities as part of the wider curriculum.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:-
Experience working with children or young adults with SEND (school, care, or community setting).

A calm, patient, and caring nature with a genuine passion for helping others.

Confidence to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Flexibility and enthusiasm for supporting students with a variety of needs.

A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
Experience with PECS, Makaton, or sensory support is beneficial but not essential – training and CPD are provided.
