Location: Erdington, Birmingham B24 - Easily accessible from Sutton Coldfield, Perry Common, Castle Vale, and Wylde Green
Day Rate: 105 - 115
Days: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
Start Date: January 2026 - Immediate for the right candidate
Contract: Long-Term, Temp to Perm

Long Term Futures are recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils across KS3 and KS4 at a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Erdington. This role is ideal for someone enthusiastic about supporting students with a range of needs including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and speech & language difficulties.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group SEND support
  • Helping pupils regulate emotions and behaviours throughout the day
  • Supporting curriculum access in English, maths, science, and wider subjects
  • Implementing personalised support plans and EHCP targets
  • Assisting with transitions, routines, and behaviour support strategies
  • Giving feedback to teachers, SENCO, and pastoral teams
  • Building trusting, professional relationships with pupils who require consistency
  • Supporting interventions that boost literacy, numeracy, and social communication

We're Looking For:

  • Experience supporting young people with SEND in a school, PRU, or youth work setting
  • Strong behaviour management skills and patience during challenging moments
  • Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
  • Ability to follow behaviour plans, regulation techniques, and escalation protocols
  • Resilience, reliability, and commitment to long-term consistency
  • Confidence working alongside teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral teams
  • Awareness of the secondary curriculum
  • A nurturing, calm, and adaptable approach
