They’re currently looking to appoint an experienced Construction or Engineering Underwriter to join their well-established and growing regional team based in Birmingham. This is a superb opportunity for someone who enjoys underwriting complex risks and wants to work in a technically engaging and strategically important area of the business.About the Role:As a Senior Construction & Engineering Underwriter, you'll manage your own portfolio of new and renewal business, working across both e-traded and manually underwritten cases. You’ll work alongside a collaborative team of underwriting professionals in the largest regional hub, playing a key role in driving profitability and shaping broker relationships. This role will suit someone who enjoys combining technical underwriting with broker engagement and is proactive in identifying and converting opportunities in the market.Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite construction and engineering risks in line with company appetite and authority levels.
  • Manage new business and renewals from start to finish, maintaining strong broker relationships throughout.
  • Work on a mix of SME and mid-market risks, with premiums ranging from £2.5k to £100k+
  • Support the business's broader growth strategy by contributing to initiatives and engaging with brokers to win new business.
  • Liaise with key internal stakeholders, including senior underwriters and underwriting operations leaders.
  • Participate in a collaborative, experienced team where knowledge sharing and development are encouraged.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven experience underwriting Construction, Engineering or Technology-related risks (either on new business or renewals).
  • Strong market awareness and a commercial mindset.
  • Comfortable working across a blend of e-traded and complex manual cases.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A broker-facing mindset is essential.
