Our reputable Legal 500 law firm is seeking a Legal Assistant to support its specialist Childcare Team in Wolverhampton or Birmingham. 

This is your chance to be part of a growing and passionate team that handles high-impact public and private law care proceedings, representing both vulnerable children and families across complex legal matters.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Legal Assistant in this Childcare department, you’ll provide vital support to experienced solicitors handling sensitive and challenging cases. This role offers hands-on experience in public law children proceedings, private family disputes and court advocacy preparation—ideal for someone looking to develop their legal career in a supportive, values-led environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing case documents and managing legal files
  • Attending client meetings, court hearings, and conferences
  • Drafting legal correspondence and standard documents
  • Reviewing evidence and compiling case summaries
  • Conducting legal research and analysis
  • Managing incoming and outgoing communication professionally

About You

You will be:

  • Organised, detail-oriented and able to juggle a varied caseload
  • An excellent communicator with both written and verbal skills
  • Passionate about delivering high standards of client care
  • A proactive team player who takes ownership of tasks
  • Interested in family law and committed to working in the public interest
  • Ideally experienced in child protection law or care proceedings (desirable but not essential)

This role would suit a law graduate, CILEX student, or early-career legal professional looking to specialise in family and childcare law.
