Salary: £41,000

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday , with three rotating shifts: 05:00 am - 01:45 pm, 09:00 am - 05:45 pm, and 11:00 am - 07:45 pm.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable individual with experience in a fast-paced transport office to join a logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the transport operation and a team of 15-20 direct reports. You will be crucial in ensuring the smooth delivery of cost, service, and Health and Safety standards. You are a team player who leads by example, is highly motivated, driven to maintain high standards in quality and Health & Safety, and can multi-task in a pressured environment. You have excellent communication skills, a positive approach, and are flexible with work patterns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing labour usage to ensure tasks are covered effectively and at optimal cost.
  • Proactive communication with internal and external customers.
  • Ensuring the depot fleet is compliant and ready for operation.
  • Maintaining compliance with all quality and legal Health and Safety documentation.
  • Proactively managing team performance and identifying training needs.
  • Acting in line with company values and management principles.
  • Providing expert knowledge, leadership, and motivation to the team.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in a management role within a fast-moving environment such as FMCG or logistics.
  • Proven experience managing, developing, and inspiring teams.
  • Experience with fleet management.
  • Strong people management skills, including dealing with performance and disciplinary issues.
  • Ability to manage targets and KPIs.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Possession of a Road Haulage Transport Managers CPC qualification (Standard National) is essential.
