Role: Manufacturing Development Manager
Hours: Monday to Friday - 37.5 hours per week

Location: Birmingham (On Site)

Our client, a leading international manufacturing company based in Birmingham, is recruiting for an experienced Manufacturing Development Manager to join their team on a full time, permanent basis.

Working closely with both the Operations Manager and the Engineering Manager, and as a member of the senior site team, the Manufacturing Development Manager shall ensure Quality assurance, good cost control of additives and deliver site compliance requirements throughout the department as well as acting as a key member of the call out team for any Operational problems.

Responsibilities:
- To be accountable for monitoring, reporting, analysing and taking action on chemical efficiencies to ensure the mill operates at optimal cost for agreed quality levels.
- Conduct feasibility studies into, and make suggestions for, product development within
the Technical, Quality and Environmental operational framework and to act as site liaison for any Group working parties relating to these areas.
- To monitor, report, analyse and take action on the water treatment processes to ensure
Site permit conditions for water discharge are maintained.
- To monitor all water usage and to create an annual action plan that ensures full review of
the consumption across the site, as well as coordinating any controls relating to Legionella.
- To oversee the adherence to agreed Quality standards including the maintenance of
equipment used to deliver these standards.
- To oversee the control of complaints handling in all Quality matters and ensure delivery of
timely responses within the Supply chain charter agreement.
- To ensure the Technology team maintain knowledge in their respective fields to
guarantee site remains current in Technological thinking.
- To oversee and develop HSE standards within the Dept, producing an annual action plan in support of, and in line with, the Company requirements.
- When requested, to be available for meetings/projects/working away from the site, for
short periods of time, which may include overnight trips.
- Potential to include Energy Management/CO2 Roadmap Management in future.

The Ideal Candidate:
- Understanding of pulp and paper making processes.
- Naturally curious with a continuous improvement mindset.
- The ability to lead small teams across a broad spectrum of activities.
- Capable of making independent decisions.
- Working knowledge of MCerts, DSEAR, FSC and ISO Standards (Desirable)
- Understanding of aerobic and anaerobic water treatment (Desirable).
- Understanding of typical process control and troubleshooting (Desirable).
- Understanding of CHP's and steam generation (Desirable).
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject (Desirable).
