We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer with a strong background in structural design and Stage 1 surveying to join their growing team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to take the lead on diverse structural projects, support clients and stakeholders, and help shape the future of engineering excellence.



About the Role

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you'll play a critical role in delivering high-quality design solutions and surveys across various sectors. You will lead project teams, manage the full lifecycle of structural projects, and provide expert technical support from concept to construction.



Key Responsibilities



Design & Analysis

  • Lead the structural design and analysis of new-build and refurbishment projects.
  • Ensure all designs comply with current codes, standards, and client requirements.


Surveying

  • Conduct or oversee Stage 1 structural surveys, site inspections, and initial condition assessments.
  • Prepare accurate, professional reports and make informed recommendations based on findings.


Project Management

  • Manage projects from early design stages through to construction and completion.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables.


Technical Support

  • Provide technical guidance and solutions to clients, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Resolve on-site and design-related issues promptly and professionally.


Leadership & Mentoring

  • Lead design teams and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
  • Foster a collaborative, knowledge-sharing team culture.


Client Communication

  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing progress updates and addressing technical queries.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships through excellent service and communication.


Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure all work meets relevant UK Building Regulations, Eurocodes, CDM, and best practices.
  • Maintain quality standards throughout design and project delivery.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: BEng/MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum 5-8 years in structural engineering design, with surveying experience preferred.
  • Chartered Status: Chartered Engineer (ICE or IStructE) or working toward chartership.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in software such as Tekla, AutoCAD, Revit, and surveying tools like total stations or drone-based systems.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK codes, regulations, and construction best practices.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits and produce inspection reports.
  • Write clear, concise technical reports and calculations.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry developments through CPD.
