Overview: Tradewind Recruitment is working with a Primary School based in Harborne who are seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to join their vibrant educational community as a Deputy Head Teacher. Based in Harborne, Birmingham, this leadership role requires an individual with a proven track record in education, specifically in leading a core subject area.

The successful candidate will possess expertise in tracking and interpreting data, a comprehensive understanding of the new curriculum, and a wealth of experience working with both Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2).

Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership of a Core Subject Area:
    • Take on a leadership role in a core subject area, contributing to the strategic development and improvement of the curriculum.
    • Inspire and lead a team of teachers, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning experiences.
  2. Data Tracking and Interpretation:
    • Utilise advanced data tracking systems to monitor student progress and attainment.
    • Interpret data effectively to inform teaching strategies, identify areas for improvement, and celebrate successes.
  3. Curriculum Development:
    • Stay abreast of the latest developments in education, particularly with regard to the national curriculum.
    • Contribute to the ongoing development and adaptation of the curriculum, ensuring it remains dynamic and responsive to the needs of the students.
  4. Key Stage Experience:
    • Bring valuable experience and insights to both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, fostering a seamless and cohesive educational experience for students transitioning between these stages.
    • Implement effective teaching and learning strategies that cater to the specific needs and developmental stages of each key stage.
  5. Staff Development:
    • Collaborate with the Head Teacher in identifying professional development needs for teaching staff.
    • Provide mentorship and support to colleagues, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
    • Full and comprehensive access to The National College online CPD platform provided.
  6. Community Engagement:
    • Engage with parents and the local community, fostering positive relationships and ensuring effective communication about student progress and school initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant teaching qualifications.
  • Substantial teaching experience in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
  • Leadership experience in a core subject area.
  • Proven ability to track and interpret data effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of the national curriculum and recent educational developments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and organisational abilities.
