Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a large primary school based in Northfield, Birmingham, to recruit an experienced Early Years Lead.

Job Overview: The school is seeking an experienced and dynamic Early Years Lead to join the team and take on a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and effective transition between Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Year 1. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the development of high-quality teaching and learning practices in both EYFS and Year 1, fostering a positive and enriching environment for our youngest learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Management:
    • Provide strong leadership in Early Years and Year 1, promoting a collaborative and supportive team culture.
    • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of educators to deliver outstanding teaching and learning experiences.
    • Collaborate with other leaders to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to education from EYFS to Year 1.
  2. Transition Planning:
    • Develop and implement effective transition strategies to ensure a seamless and positive experience for children moving from EYFS to Year 1.
    • Work closely with EYFS and Year 1 staff to create a curriculum that builds on children's prior learning experiences and supports their continued development.
    • Establish strong communication channels between EYFS and Year 1 teams, parents, and external stakeholders.
  3. Curriculum Development:
    • Contribute to the design and implementation of a rich and engaging curriculum that meets the needs of children in both EYFS and Year 1.
    • Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning practices, providing guidance and support to enhance the overall quality of education.
  4. Professional Development:
    • Identify training needs for EYFS and Year 1 staff and coordinate relevant professional development opportunities.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, where staff are encouraged to reflect on and enhance their teaching practices.
  5. Parent and Community Engagement:
    • Establish effective partnerships with parents, involving them in their child's learning journey and providing resources and guidance for continued support at home.
    • Engage with the local community to enhance the overall learning experience and strengthen relationships between the school and its stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A relevant degree in education or Early Years education.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and significant experience working in Early Years and Year 1.
  • Proven leadership experience in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of EYFS and Year 1 curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the school's values and vision for education.
