Cover Supervisor - Secondary Schools - South Birmingham

Are you looking to build valuable classroom experience in a dynamic secondary school setting? Long Term Futures is working with a number of welcoming and well-regarded schools across South Birmingham to recruit confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors for the new academic year.

This role is perfect for recent graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with youth work or classroom experience who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across KS3 and KS4.

The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you'll step into classrooms to deliver pre-prepared lessons during teacher absences. You'll keep learners on task, manage behaviour effectively, and help maintain a positive and purposeful learning environment. Each day will bring something different, offering excellent exposure to a range of schools, subjects, and year groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising whole classes during short-term teacher absences

  • Delivering pre-set lesson plans and ensuring pupils stay engaged with their work

  • Supporting students of mixed ability levels across KS3 and KS4

  • Maintaining behaviour in line with school policies

  • Recording and reporting on class progress and concerns for teaching staff

  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in schools, tutoring, coaching, or youth work

  • Strong communication and classroom management skills

  • Adaptability and confidence across different subject areas

  • Resilience, reliability, and a professional attitude

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
