The Role In a Nutshell

Creating, validating and helping deploy designs on the business's IP/MPLS platform the role holder must be competent in creating technical designs and concepts of IP networking. The business provides critical infrastructure ranging from government to emergency services.

The Role

The business provides critical infrastructure ranging from government to emergency services. With that scale of responsibility, they need robust designs with an ability to understand and embrace new technologies and get them rolled out at pace. The role holder will be responsible for creating, validating and helping deploy designs on the business's IP/MPLS platform and must be competent in creating technical designs and concepts of IP networking.

Skills & Experience

  • Conversant with IP/MPLS, internet
  • Knowledge of large-scale network development
  • Experience in design and development of core network technologies

The following would be an advantage:

  • Cloud technologies
  • TM Forum APIs
  • Testing and design validation

Your Responsibilities

  • Having a good understanding of network concepts and the practicalities of managing a network.
  • Actively participating in strategy-setting sessions.
  • Aligning project plans and objectives with business strategy and values.
  • Making decisions in ambiguous situations using incomplete information or differing opinions (eg divided team or unclear deliverables).
  • Designing solutions to complex problems utilising multiple systems platforms.
  • Communicating an idea, persuading others to support and contribute to its implementation.

  • Systems thinking - Providing technical expertise to evaluate the impacts and links between structure, people, process and technology. Thinking through the whole system's context, new perspectives and insight before taking on projects.
  • Technology design - Partnering with the business to understand and analyse user requirements
  • Technology excellence - Building and applying insight about emerging technology to develop and deliver new digital solutions. Breaking complex information down into an understandable language.
  • Be agile - Identify opportunities to use collaborative approaches and continuous improvement. Contributing to projects as a subject matter expert or content owner.
  • Product and service knowledge - Demonstrating subject matter expertise in complex, technical infrastructure, products and services. Developing bespoke solutions to meet short, medium and long-term customer needs.
