My client is a leading bespoke joinery and architectural metalwork company based in central Birmingham. They specialise in the production of high-quality, custom-designed installations incorporating hardwood joinery, architectural metalwork, and other materials.
They are looking for a proactive and results-driven Buyer/ material planner to join our team. In this key role, you will be responsible for procuring materials and services at the best price while ensuring timely delivery to meet manufacturing schedules. You will work closely with internal teams, including sales, design, and manufacturing, to support project requirements efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
" Collaborate with estimators at the tender stage to secure budget prices and highlight long lead-time items.
" Liaise with suppliers to resolve technical queries before drawings are submitted for approval.
" Place purchase orders at the best price and ensure timely delivery.
" Monitor and progress deliveries of materials and subcontracted work to meet project deadlines.
" Address any supplier issues, including defects and commercial disputes, ensuring minimal disruption.
" Manage invoices, ensuring they match delivery notes and securing the best discounts.
" Maintain compliance with company policies, including purchase invoice management.
What We're Looking For
" Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar purchasing or procurement role.
" Knowledge of joinery and/or metalwork.
" Strong negotiation skills and keen attention to detail.
" A flexible and committed approach to meeting company objectives.
