Road Freight Operator Responsibilities:
- Liaise with customers to offer a range of freight forwarding services
- Plan and coordinate freight and shipments between the UK and the EU on behalf of customers
- Handle all relevant documentation, ensuring all data is correct and in line with regulations
- Use CargowiseONE to arrange customs clearance services, upload documents, create files, and maintain job information
- Quote jobs for customers, agreeing on rates with stakeholders
- Maintain relationships with existing and prospective customers and suppliers, identifying ways to maximise the profitability of freight forwarding operations
- Identify ways to increase service offerings and customer base
- Allocate supplier purchase invoices
Road Freight Operator Skills and Experience:
- A genuine interest in logistics and freight forwarding is essential
- Previous experience in logistics, customs, or freight forwarding is a plus, but not required. We're also open to candidates with a relevant degree or strong experience in another sector who are keen to move into logistics
- A strong work ethic is crucial; we're looking for someone committed, eager to learn, and driven to make a positive impact
- Good administrative skills and strong computer literacy are important. You should be comfortable using Microsoft Office and open to learning different CRM systems
- Excellent communication skills are a must. You'll need to be confident, personable, and able to communicate effectively with both colleagues and customers
