Long-Term English Teacher - Secondary (Birmingham East)
January start | Full-time | Ongoing

We are supporting a large, mixed secondary academy in East Birmingham with a long-term English requirement. The school serves a richly diverse local community and is part of a well-established trust with a clear focus on inclusion, consistency, and raising standards.

This is a full teaching role, involving planning, marking, and assessment, teaching KS3 and KS4 English. You will be joining a committed English department that values clear routines, strong subject knowledge, and staff who can build positive relationships with pupils.

What you can expect from the school:

A diverse student body with a strong emphasis on literacy and language development

A structured behaviour policy that rewards consistency and calm classroom leadership

Supportive middle leadership and a visible SLT presence

Centralised resources and schemes of work to support planning

A fast-paced environment that suits resilient, reflective practitioners

The ideal candidate will:

Hold QTS (preferred), or be a strong English Instructor

Have at least 6 months' experience teaching English in a long-term role, including planning and marking

Be confident teaching across KS3 and KS4

Demonstrate strong classroom management and high expectations

Be reliable, adaptable, and committed to seeing a class through a longer placement

This role would suit:

An ECT looking to gain solid long-term experience

An experienced teacher seeking stability for the term

A confident English Instructor with proven long-term classroom experience

Pay: Competitive, based on experience and responsibilities.

If you are an English specialist who thrives in a structured, urban secondary setting and is looking for a meaningful long-term opportunity, we would be keen to speak with you.
