Smart Education is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and resilient PE Teacher to work 0.6 FTE (part-time) in a Birmingham-based specialist setting, supporting pupils with Autism who are unable to access mainstream education.

This rewarding opportunity offers the chance to make a profound impact on the lives of some of the most vulnerable young people in the city. Every pupil has a primary diagnosis of Autism and may also have missed extended periods of education. Your role will involve creatively re-engaging students in PE, promoting both physical and emotional wellbeing, and enabling every learner to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging PE lessons across KS3 and KS4 adapted to meet the diverse needs of students with Autism.

  • Use creative teaching strategies to bridge gaps in learning and reduce educational disadvantage.

  • Support the development of the whole child—socially, emotionally, and physically.

  • Work collaboratively within a supportive and highly trained multi-disciplinary team.

The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Have experience teaching PE at KS3 and KS4.

  • Demonstrate a passion for inclusive education and supporting SEND learners.

  • Show tenacity, positivity, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.

  • Be a consistently good or outstanding classroom practitioner.
