Learning Support Assistant - Secondary School (Birmingham, B42) - Full-Time - From 100 per day

Long Term Futures is proud to be partnering with a welcoming secondary school in the Perry Barr area to recruit a committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will support students with a range of additional learning needs, which may include Cerebral Palsy, Attachment Disorder, ASD, ADHD, and Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN).

This is a fulfilling opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally through personalised, consistent care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering tailored 1:1 support to ensure the student feels secure, engaged, and encouraged in their learning

  • Promoting the student's academic progress while also supporting their emotional and physical development

  • Using strategies to foster trust, build confidence, and nurture positive relationships

  • Assisting with mobility and providing appropriate support with toileting and personal care

  • Collaborating with teaching staff, SEN professionals, and families to create a cohesive support network

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience working 1:1 with students who have additional needs - essential

  • A flexible, enthusiastic, and compassionate approach to support work

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Confidence supporting students with attachment challenges and/or physical disabilities

  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential - experience and the right attitude matter most
