Our client is seeking a committed Senior Residential Support Worker to support the day-to-day operations of an EBD (Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties) Childrens Home. This role is ideal for individuals with experience working with children experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges who are ready to take on leadership responsibilities and support the care team.

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will ensure that children with emotional and behavioral difficulties receive individualized, high-quality care in a safe and supportive environment. You will also provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior staff members, contributing to a positive and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and Supervise a Care Team: Supervise and guide a team of Residential Support Workers, ensuring that care is delivered according to best practices, individualized care plans, and therapeutic approaches.

  • Develop and Deliver Care Plans: Support the creation and implementation of care plans tailored to children with emotional and behavioral needs, focusing on promoting their emotional well-being, social development, and educational progress.

  • Mentorship and Staff Support: Mentor junior staff, providing supervision, coaching, and training as needed to ensure effective support for children with emotional and behavioral challenges.

  • Create a Safe and Therapeutic Environment: Promote a positive, structured, and therapeutic environment where children with emotional and behavioral difficulties feel safe, respected, and supported. Manage challenging behaviors using de-escalation techniques and evidence-based strategies.

  • Monitor and Evaluate Care Practices: Continuously evaluate care practices to ensure they meet regulatory standards and safeguarding requirements, and ensure that childrens emotional and behavioral needs are addressed effectively.

  • Maintain Accurate Records: Document progress and maintain accurate records for each child, reflecting their emotional and behavioral needs, achievements, and challenges. Ensure that all documentation complies with legal and organizational standards.

  • Prepare for Inspections: Assist in preparing for and participating in Ofsted inspections and audits, ensuring the home complies with all relevant regulations and best practices.

  • Maintain a High Standard of Care: Ensure the residential home is maintained to a high standard, both in terms of cleanliness and safety, creating a comfortable and secure living environment for the children.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum 1 years experience as a Residential Support Worker, preferably working with children with emotional and behavioral difficulties.

  • Level 3 Children and Young People Workforce Qualification (or equivalent).

  • Strong understanding of emotional and behavioral difficulties (EBD) care strategies, safeguarding, and child protection.

  • Experience in managing challenging behaviors and supporting emotional and behavioral development.

  • Ability to lead, support, and motivate a team of care staff to provide high-quality care.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage children in care and collaborate with external agencies.

Desirable Skills:
  • Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).

  • Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring role within residential care.

  • Knowledge of therapeutic interventions and evidence-based approaches for managing emotional and behavioral difficulties in children.

  • Understanding of trauma-informed care and its application to children with emotional and behavioral challenges.
