About the Role

We are looking for experienced Children's Social Workers, professionally known as Family Court Advisers, to join Cafcass. This is a temporary role with the possibility of becoming permanent.

You will work within Private and/or Public Law teams, managing cases where families need assistance to agree on arrangements for the welfare and safety of children, or where local authorities have raised serious concerns requiring Cafcass involvement.



Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments and engage directly with children to understand and represent their views and wishes to the court.
  • Use expertise in risk assessment and mediation to advocate for arrangements prioritizing children's best interests.
  • Prepare Section 7 reports as part of court proceedings.


Essential Criteria

  • Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working with children and families in a social work capacity.
  • Experience in Family Court proceedings and knowledge of Private/Public Law.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.

Desirable: Experience in Section 7 report writing.
