Purpose

  • To develop and deliver Domestic Abuse advise, support and training for Education settings, to include Operation Encompass and MARAC.
  • To ensure the needs of children who are experiencing domestic abuse are supported, as victims in their own right, through Education settings.
  • To develop enhanced safeguarding processes for children out of sight and in temporary accommodation or refuge and who are experiencing domestic abuse.
  • To coordinate and manage the delivery of Domestic Abuse Programmes for families open up, in partnership with Families Together and Early Help, and evaluate their effectiveness and impact.
  • To provide operational support to local authority's Education Safeguarding Team in respect of children experiencing domestic abuse.

Responsibilities

2.1. To provide Education Settings with support around the delivery of Operation Encompass, MARAC and other Domestic Abuse related systems and processes.

2.2. To liaise with the SSI Team / Business Support to produce data and reports to identify uptake, themes and trends relating to Operation Encompass and domestic abuse to share with steering groups.

2.3 To analyse data to assist and measure Operation Encompass take up and to impact evaluation.

2.4 To develop and deliver briefings, training and webinars on Domestic Abuse themes, information, systems and processes, to Education Settings.

2.5 To work collaboratively with the Education Safeguarding Team and West Midlands Police in developing Operation Encompass and providing a Domestic Abuse Support Offer to schools to include contribution to MARAC.

2.6 To represent Education at Domestic Abuse steering group meetings and provide updates on progress and emergent themes.

2.7 To be responsible for any actions identified for Education within Domestic Abuse Steering Group meetings.

2.8 To work with Education Safeguarding Partnership teams to establish and enhance the safeguarding response for children out of sight and in temporary accommodation or refuge, in relation to Domestic Abuse

2.9 To liaise with area teams to coordinate and manage the delivery of domestic abuse programmes for families and to evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions provided through audit, reporting and impact.

2.10 To produce briefings and information for Schools Noticeboard, school forums and any other communications for schools and settings, in relation to Operation Encompass, MARAC and other Domestic Abuse themes.

2.11 To liaise with the School Safeguarding Support Officers to offer specific support to education settings who have been involved with a Domestic Homicide Review or other relevant Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews and to ensure that any learning points identified are actioned.

2.11 To co-ordinate the Education response to local or national awareness or promotional campaigns pertaining to Domestic Abuse.

2.12 To undertake quality assurance and audit of Operation Encompass and MARAC, by seeking feedback from education settings, and reviewing data.
