LADO (Local Authority Designated Officer) - Children's Services (Birmingham Trust)Lead the response to allegations against teachers and other professionals.Birmingham Trust is seeking a highly experienced and skilled LADO to join our Children's Services team. This is a critical role, requiring strong leadership, investigative skills, and a deep understanding of child safeguarding procedures.About the Role:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to schools, other agencies, and professionals on how to respond to allegations of abuse or neglect against those working with children.
  • Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into allegations, ensuring all necessary procedures are followed.
  • Manage complex cases, often involving sensitive and challenging situations.
  • Collaborate effectively with multi-agency partners (police, social services, education) to coordinate responses and ensure children's safety.
  • Provide clear, concise, and timely advice on the appropriate actions to be taken.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all investigations and decisions.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of safeguarding policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Registered with Social Care England.
  • Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience as a qualified Social Worker. Significant experience working as an LADO or in a similar safeguarding role is essential.
  • Extensive knowledge of child protection legislation and procedures, including the Children Act 1989 and related guidance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding children and maintaining confidentiality.
