Are you a patient, nurturing and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant ready to make a difference in a KS1 setting?

We're working with a welcoming mainstream primary school seeking a dedicated SEN TA to support pupils in Years 1 and 2 with higher learning and behavioural needs. This full-time role involves 1:1 and small group work, guided by the class teacher and SENCO. Your role will be key in helping these children access the curriculum and develop confidence in and out of the classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex learning needs
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt activities and monitor progress
  • Use behaviour regulation strategies to maintain a calm and supportive learning environment
  • Build strong, positive relationships with children, staff and parents
  • Track and report pupil progress and development

We're Looking For:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally in KS1
  • Confidence working with higher needs pupils (e.g. non-verbal, autism, behavioural challenges)
  • Additional training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly desirable
  • A calm, encouraging and consistent approach
