Are you a resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant with experience supporting complex SEN needs?A welcoming and supportive primary school in Handsworth is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to students who require specialised support.

About the Role:

In this position, you will work with students across KS2 who present with complex needs such as Severe Autism, ADHD, and challenging behaviours. Many of these pupils are unable to participate in whole class learning and require highly personalised support both inside and outside the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored learning using specific techniques designed to meet each student's individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex SEN needs.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and individualised learning activities.
  • Support students with Severe Autism, ADHD, and those displaying challenging behaviours.
  • Work alongside teaching staff to adapt lesson content according to each pupil's learning plan.
  • Promote a calm, safe, and structured learning environment.
  • Support students' emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies.
  • Assist with personal care where required (preferred but not essential).

Candidate Requirements:

  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is essential.
  • Previous experience supporting complex SEN needs within a school environment.
  • Experience supporting students with Severe Autism, ADHD, and challenging behaviours.
  • Experience with personal care is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations.
  • Confident in delivering learning using tailored teaching strategies.
