About the Role:We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Key Stage 1 (KS1). This is a mornings-only role based in a welcoming primary school in Sheldon, Birmingham.

You will work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored learning content, supporting the pupil both inside and outside the classroom. Your role will include ensuring the child can access the KS1 curriculum, participate meaningfully in whole-class activities, and receive the same learning opportunities as their peers, adapted to meet their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with ASD.
  • Adapt and deliver learning content to suit individual learning needs.
  • Support the child's involvement in whole-class lessons and activities.
  • Collaborate with class teachers to ensure aligned learning and support strategies.
  • Monitor and report progress and behaviour to teaching staff and SENCo as required.

Requirements:

  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Previous experience supporting students with SEN, ideally ASD, in a school setting.
  • Experience working with children in a classroom environment, ideally within KS1.
  • Understanding of the KS1 curriculum and how to adapt it for individual needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
